Receive a stunning physical copy of Sleepless Summers. Currently selling the first editions ever! The artwork by Aja Trier is breath taking in print AND comes with a STICKER as well as a hand-written note from Joe.

Composed between 2008 and 2019, these songs all came about from the same general manner: lost Winter nights to depression, self-loathing or drug addiction with the occasional idea that would take root until Summer time could sprout it from darkness. In ways this is a literal metaphor, as many times this album took a backseat as I searched for seasonal inspiration. But I encourage you to take this album track by track as a metaphor for your own growth and struggle through the Winters.

Baked 02:16
Sitting, watching one single channel. TV that's protected by glass. Can't speak anymore, or they'll chain me to the floor, and in the process they might kick my ass. Nurse comes and she asks, "why the problems?" I said "lately, I just can't seem to solve 'em." She said "give him some pills!" Left me naked with chills, and in the morning sent me three different bills. Well thanks a lot...I asked for help but debt was all I got. Everyday the misinformation, people blaming things on my generation. It's all about left or right, black hispanic or white, don't you know that they just want us to fight? Well I'll shut up and ask no more questions, I'll stop and drop this talk of depression. But they're shooting us still, for their media thrills, and then they ask "why the millennial ills?" HA! Well thanks a lot. We asked nothing and still were left to rot.

Rain 02:30

I said I'm sorry to the moonlit sky, it's all a pattern that repeats in my mind. One day I'm fine but then the next completely different when I... When I know that far away the sun still shines. I can see it's shadow in the darkness of my eyes. I chose my path I burned my tracks. The demons always smile in the moonlight, sweetly whisper "have no fright!" The time soon swells my riddled thoughts and brings me back to you, so we can start again, oh! It's all a pattern I can't stop it in my mind, the day I fell for you I feel I fell so far behind. So I... So I keep on running down these same old lines. Started off so well but it was only the one time. I lost my faith I lost my mind. I'm striking matches as the ashes and the rain come pouring down, all around, and now you know the story of the storm. The rain falls constantly, as bitterly I lie inside the gutter as I think of what remains of my mind. Falls constantly as bitterly I lie... I know that far away the suns still shining on the ground, I'm etching out my words because my screams don't make a sound, I chose my path, I burned my tracks, the demons always smile in the moonlight. Sweetly whisper "have no fright!" The memories creep into me, to bring me back to you.. so we can start again.

Step one: fall in love with anything, and, Two: Let it be your everything, You'll see, we all have our own destiny. But me, I just want you next to me. You, you could be my anything. But I, I'm having trouble finding time in time. And all this time my worst fears, were all insincere, will I show them up in the end? And baby I'm lazy and sometimes just crazy, but my love for you never bends. And girl life implores us with death coming towards us, to fly up as high as we can. After all this time, I still don't know who I am. Alright, We: We have conquered everything we see.. And some are born with everything they need.. but satisfaction doesn't come for free.. You never see a soul until it bleeds... And all this time my worst fears, were all insincere, will I show them up in the end? And baby I'm lazy and sometimes just crazy, but my love for you never bends. And girl life implores us with death coming towards us, to fly up as high as we can. After all this time, I've finally found who I am.

Sea Of Love 05:12
You call it sentimental, like I'm wasting my time. Always consumed with consequences, trying not to cross any lines. And when you followed me down, I said I'll warn you now, this type of life isn't easy. You wanna hear the sound, test strength against the ground. You were so ready to please me... In the sea of your love, I've got no time to drown so come on... All you see up above is a burial ground, so come home. In the sea of your love, I've got no time to drown, so come on.. While you're digging your grave, there's still one you can save, so come home... And now we're trying to catch our breath, everything is suffocating. We played too long with consequence, as if something could be different this time. We can't keep falling down, girl one last warning now. Cause changing never comes easy. Just look me in the eye, my strength until we die, I have you nothing can beat me. In the sea of your love, I've got no time to drown so come on... All you see up above is a burial ground, so come home. In the sea of your love, I've got no time to drown, so come on.. While you're digging your grave, there's still one you can save, so come home...

Disaster 03:04
Keep spinning faster, what's in a name? It's all disaster, it's all insane. And so I asked her take me out of this place, and she said I can't go faster than the blood to your face... Everything I thought I knew about myself, was mixed up with the memories of someone else. The pictures in my head have always been the same, An image of perfection that I can't maintain. Twenty years of darkness wasting all my time, trying to find a dollar to get back in line. My poverty it comically reveals the truth, no lying to yourself when you buy drugs not food. Everything I thought I knew about myself, was mixed up with the memories of someone else. I never knew that much until I died that day, ironically I finally came alive that day. I never knew that much until I died that day, ironically I finally came alive that day. Twenty-seven short years just to die that day, ironically I finally came alive that day. [Bass solo]

about

It's taken me years to get this album together and I am so happy to finally have it out! I'd like to think Sleepless Summers captures many moods, vibes or emotions. It has a little bit of humor, a lot of self-reflection, some sensitivity and some determination.

Major C Waves (track 2) through Sunrise (track 5) serve as a story from a hopeful and optimistic beginning through chaos, romance, heartbreak, self-destruction, and the sunrise beyond. Other songs such as Moonlight and Sleepless Summers are meditative and relaxing while songs like Tampa Street and Sea of Love contain more energy and confidence. Clouds of Grass and Disaster are stories of personal struggle, and Baked, Frog Dance, Rerun and Shannon's Song are the lighthearted moments between the heavier emotions of the other tracks.
